News and Events

Dear Members and visitors,

In this information age, everyone seems to have a website, but that alone is not sufficient reason for creating one. For some, more than others, the creation of a website is essential and I believe that the creation of the Dutch Burgher Union website falls into this category. The DBU celebrates its centenary next year and this website promises to be an ideal location for preserving the rich history of an entire community spanning several centuries, and whose descendants are now spread across many continents.

The DBU website has the potential to bridge this geographical gap and enable our community and friends of our community to congregate at a solitary focal point once again, just as the home of the DBU once was to generations before us.

The past few years has seen a revival of sorts taking place at the DBU and my Committee and I have been unswerving in all our efforts and endeavours to see its star shine brightly once more. And through this website, we not only hope to let you all know, wherever you are, on what is happening at the DBU, but to also invite you to join us in taking it to greater heights.

Finally, my grateful thanks go out to David Colin-Thomé and his team for their efforts in putting this website together, which I am confident, will be appreciated by many.

Yours sincerely,

Kem Martenstyn
President – Dutch Burgher Union
