May 2007 Dear Member, May is the month known for sunshine, trees laden with fruit and flowers, the middle of spring in most parts of the world-the month named after the Greek Goddess of fertility. It is a time of renewal, of life, of change and energy! In Sri Lanka we look forward to the monsoon which in turn brings with it life and fresh green pastures and fields after the long dry and hot season. Fittingly, this month brings you a "new look" newsletter too. In keeping with our President Kem Martenstyn's vision for a new, vibrant and lively DBU, we want to include your views and news in our future newsletters. We invite you, therefore, to send in your contributions on human interest stories, anecdotes, travel experiences or tips, Burgher recipes or household hints, achievements of members of our community, etc. Let's use our newsletter to bring us DBU members closer together, to get to know each other better! On the 27th April members and guests swept into the DBU hall in their "Easter Bonnets" and fancy hats, contributing marvelously to the spirit of our "Easter Parade". As usual our President Kem and the Entertainment Committee put on a fun filled evening with lots of dancing and games and the bonhomie which the DBU is now becoming quite well known for. In keeping with the theme, the tables were all decorated with beautifully adorned hats of all colours, courtesy of our President! Ladies and gents paraded in their fabulous hats, and prizes were awarded. If you missed it, you missed a lot! Just make sure you don't miss out on the host of other exciting functions lined up for the rest of the year. This month will bring you "Bombay Mere Hai"- see inside for details and book your tables early. Do send in your contributions to: The Editor, DBU News, C/o the DBU, by post or email to-dutchburgheruni@mymail.com We look forward to hearing from you! Anne-Marie Kellar
